East Telecom Installs Air Pollution Sensor on Headquarters Building in Tashkent
To monitor the city's environmental situation, East Telecom has installed an innovative air pollution sensor from IQAir on its headquarters building.
In recent years, dust storms have become more frequent in Tashkent, driven by climate change and negative environmental factors. As a result, levels of hazardous particles in the air, such as PM2.5 and PM10, significantly exceed the safe standards set by the World Health Organization. Particulate matter (PM) is a widespread air pollutant consisting of a mixture of solid and liquid particles suspended in the air. These particles can penetrate the human respiratory system, causing various health problems, including respiratory diseases, the exacerbation of chronic conditions, and even cardiovascular issues. Sources of PM2.5 and PM10 include vehicle emissions, the burning of solid fuels for energy production, road surface erosion, agriculture, and construction.
IQAir is a company focused on environmental monitoring technologies, positioning itself as managing "the world’s largest free real-time air quality information platform." The IQAir sensor installed on the East Telecom building is designed for continuous real-time air quality monitoring and is part of a worldwide UN program. Data collected by such sensors around the world is stored on the Urban Air Action platform, coordinated by the UN, enabling governments to enhance environmental policies and citizens to make more informed health choices.
According to the World Air Quality Index (AQI) Ranking for 2023, Tashkent ranks 2nd among the capitals of Central Asian countries for air pollution and 22nd globally. Air pollution, responsible for about one in every nine deaths worldwide, represents a significant environmental threat to human health.
Benefits of East Telecom's sensor for Tashkent residents:
Timely Warning: With the sensor on East Telecom's headquarters building, residents of nearby homes can receive timely warnings about increased air pollution levels and take appropriate precautions, such as using protective masks or limiting outdoor time.
Health Awareness: Increased awareness about air conditions allows citizens to take preventive measures to protect their health and the health of their families.
Information for Action: Data collected by the sensor will help government bodies and environmental organizations make more informed decisions to improve the region's environmental situation.
You can view the sensor readings on the project website at the following link: https://www.iqair.com/uzbekistan/toshkent-shahri/tashkent/east-telecom-dx-campus. Additionally, you can install the mobile app on Android and iOS for convenient access to information.
On the IQAir website and app, you can not only monitor air quality in Tashkent and receive notifications about the environmental situation but also access recommendations for reducing the negative impact of polluted air on health, get weather forecasts, and view pollution sensor data from other areas of the city.
Contribution to a Sustainable Future
The sensor installation project is part of East Telecom's environmental initiative to improve the ecological situation and raise residents' awareness of air pollution issues. Using modern technology, our company aims to contribute to creating a cleaner and safer urban environment.
